Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 6 c
- salt - 1 c
- water - 9 c
- vinegar - 6 c
- dry mustard - 1 tsp
- celery seed - 1 tsp
- onions, sliced - 1 qt
- turmeric - 1 Tbsp
- cucumbers, sliced - 6 qt
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Put salt in water and add sliced cucumbers and onions. Let stand for 3 hours. Drain and rinse. Pack cucumbers and onions in jars. Add sugar, vinegar, turmeric, mustard and celery seed together and bring to a boil, then pour over cucumbers and seal.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
