Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/4 c
- water - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 c
- ginger - 1/2 tsp
- dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
- celery seed - 1/2 tsp
- medium onions - 3 item
- medium cucumbers - 5 item
- turmeric - 1/4 tsp
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Wash and slice cucumbers and onions. Combine with salt and cover with ice. Let stand for 3 hours. Mix vinegar, water, sugar and spices. Drain cucumbers and onions. Add to vinegar mixture. Heat slowly to scald. Do not boil! Seal in jars. Wait 48 hours before opening.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
