Ingredients/Components
- pickles, thinly sliced - 2 gal
- small onions, sliced - 16 item
- salt - 1 c
- water - 1 item
- turmeric - 3 tsp
- mustard seed - 4 tsp
- celery seed - 2 tsp
- vinegar - 4 c
- sugar - 6 c
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Cover pickles and onions with water and salt. Let soak for 3 hours. Drain. Mix together 10 cups water, turmeric, mustard seed, celery seed, vinegar and sugar and pour over pickles. Heat and put in jars and seal.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
