Ingredients/Components
- medium size cucumbers - 3 gal
- medium onions - 8 item
- salt - 1/2 c
- white sugar - 5 c
- water - 2 c
- vinegar - 3 c
- mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
- turmeric - 1 tsp
- celery seed - 2 Tbsp
How to make bread and butter pickles:
Slice cucumbers. Do not peel. Slice onions. Dissolve salt in water and pour over sliced vegetables. Let stand 3 hours and drain. Combine vinegar, sugar and spices and bring to boil. Add drained vegetables and heat to boiling point, do not boil. Pack in hot jars and seal.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
