  • sugar - 4 c
  • salt - 2/3 c
  • water
  • vinegar - 4 c
  • celery seed - 4 tsp
  • mustard seed - 4 tsp
  • turmeric - 4 tsp
  • sliced cucumbers - 4 qt
  • sliced onions - 1 qt

How to make bread & butter pickles:

Cover cucumbers and onions with salt water. Soak overnight, then drain before adding remaining ingredients. Simmer this all together for 2 minutes, then jar and seal.
