Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 4 item
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • flour - 5 c
  • soda - 5 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 qt
  • boiling water - 2 c
  • shortening - 1 c
  • All-Bran - 6 c

How to make bran muffins:

Cream shortening with sugar; add eggs one at a time. Pour in buttermilk. Mix together 2 cups All-Bran and boiling water; add to first mixture. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to mixture. Add 4 cups All-Bran and mix. Bake in greased muffin pans at 400° for 20 minutes. Will keep in refrigerator 1 month. Do not stir. Dip out. Makes 4 to 5 dozen, depending on size of pan.
