Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 5 c
  • brown sugar - 1 lb
  • oil - 1 c
  • soda - 5 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 qt
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • oatmeal - 2 c
  • Shredded Wheat - 2 c
  • all-bran, crushed - 2 c

How to make bran muffins:

Mix together oatmeal, crushed Shredded Wheat and all-bran cereal. Pour 1 cup boiling water over cereal. Add oil. Add brown sugar and buttermilk. Sift together flour, salt and soda; add to cereal mixture. Fill muffin tin 1/2 full. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes. Yield: 4 to 4 1/2 dozen.

Batter can be covered and refrigerated for up to 3 months.
