Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • salt
  • water - 1/2 c
  • margarine - 1/4 c
  • cider vinegar - 1/2 c
  • large head red cabbage - 1 item

How to make braised red cabbage:

Cut cabbage in half. Wash, drain, core and shred. Melt butter or margarine in kettle over low heat. Add shredded cabbage and saute 5 minutes. Add sugar, salt, vinegar and water. Toss until mixed. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Spoon into dish. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
