  • butter, softened - 1/4 c
  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • all-purpose flour
  • vegetable shortening - 1/4 c
  • ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • ground cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • ground nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • fresh blueberries

How to make blueberry buckle:

Mix 3/4 cups sugar, shortening, eggs and milk until well blended. Stir in 1 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cloves; fold in berries. Spread batter in greased 9-inch square pan. Combine remaining ingredients and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle crumbs over batter. Bake at 375° about 45 minutes or until cake top springs back when lightly touched. Serve warm, cut into squares, with a lemon sauce.
