Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- cream cheese - 2 pkg
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- eggs, separated - 5 item
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- nuts - 1 c
- powdered sugar
- plain flour - 2 c
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- can coconut - 1 oz
- Add sugar, buttermilk, vanilla and egg yolks
How to make black walnut cake:
Combine butter and shortening until fluffy. Add sugar, buttermilk, vanilla and egg yolks. Add coconut and nuts. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff. Fold into cake mix. Put in greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.Frosting:1 1/2 c. butter2 pkg. cream cheese6 1/2 c. powdered sugar1 1/2 tsp. vanilla Mix ingredients together and frost cooled cake.
