Black midnight cake

Ingredients/Components

• sugar
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• soda - 1 tsp
• cocoa - 1/2 c
• baking powder - 1/4 tsp
• shortening - 1/2 c
• large eggs - 2 item
• sifted flour
• hot coffee or hot water - 1 c

How to make black midnight cake:

Sift flour first; then measure and sift all dry ingredients. Cream sugar and shortening. Add beaten eggs. Alternately add liquid and dry ingredients. Bake at 350° about 25 minutes or until done. Makes two 8-inch round layers.
