Black forest brownies



  • sugar - 2 c
  • vanilla
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • butter or margarine - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • flour
  • butter
  • confectioners sugar - 2 c
  • eggs, beaten - 4 item
  • almond extract - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • chopped maraschino cherries - 1 c
  • baking cocoa - 1 c

How to make black forest brownies:

Icing:1/4 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla2 c. confectioners sugar6 Tbsp. baking cocoa1/4 c. milk1/4 c. chopped nuts Combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. In a large saucepan, melt butter. Remove from the heat and stir in cocoa until smooth. Blend in eggs, sugar and extracts. Stir in flour mixture, cherries and nuts. Pour into greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes or until brownies test done.

For icing, blend butter, vanilla, sugar, cocoa and milk until smooth. Spread over hot brownies. Sprinkle with nuts. Cool. Yields 3 dozen.
