  • salt
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • potatoes - 2 lb
  • chopped parsley - 2 Tbsp
  • cloves garlic, crushed - 3 item
  • bay leaves - 2 item
  • canola oil - 1/2 c
  • onions, peeled and sliced - 2 lb
  • bottled steak sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • can lite beer - 1 oz
  • chuck, cut in 1-inch cubes - 2 lb

How to make belgian beef stew:

In a large bowl, combine flour, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper. Add chuck to coat; set aside. Heat 1/2 cup oil in 4-quart Dutch oven. Saute onion and garlic until tender; remove from pan. Heat remaining oil and add chuck. Brown well on all sides. Return onion and garlic to pan, along with beer, soy sauce, Worcestershire, steak sauce, bay leaves and thyme. Mix well. Bring mixture to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 2 hours or until meat is tender.

Meanwhile, pare potatoes. Cut into quarters. Add potatoes and remaining salt to boiling water. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Drain potatoes well. Toss with chopped parsley. To serve, turn stew mixture into serving dish. Surround the stew with potatoes.
