Ingredients/Components

  • sour cream - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 6 Tbsp
  • water - 2 c
  • dry mustard - 3 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • onion, sliced - 1 item
  • cooked rice - 1 item
  • can mushroom pieces - 1 oz
  • beef round steak, cut in long thin strips - 2 lb

How to make beef stroganoff:

Dredge meat in flour, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Brown in a small amount of fat. Add water, mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, mushrooms and onion. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour or until meat is tender, stirring occasionally. Make a paste of the flour and water; slowly add to the meat mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumping. Simmer until gravy is thick and smooth. Stir in sour cream and bring to boiling point over low heat, but do not boil. Serve over rice.
