Beef stroganoff



Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- tomato juice
- Pet evaporated milk - 1/2 c
- can mushroom stems and pieces - 4 oz
- cooked noodles or rice - 3 c
- hot shortening - 2 Tbsp
- cut up onion - 1/4 c
- round steak, 1/2-inch thick - 1 lb
How to make beef stroganoff:
Cut steak into 3 x 1-inch strips. Brown strips in shortening in 10-inch skillet. Add onion, salt and pepper. Blend in flour, then tomato juice and mushroom stems and pieces, drained. Cover; cook over low heat 1 hour, until meat is tender. Stir in mixture of milk and lemon juice. Heat until steaming, but do not boil. Serve over noodles or rice.
