Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- hot water - 6 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- diced onion - 1/2 c
- bay leaf - 1 item
- sliced celery - 2 c
- beef stew meat - 2 lb
- beef bouillon cubes - 2 item
- green pepper, cut into strips - 1 item
- Gold Medal flour - 1/2 c
- carrots, cut into 1-inch slices - 4 item
- pared medium potatoes, cut into 2-inch cubes - 3 item
How to make beef stew:
Mix flour, 1 teaspoon salt and pepper. Coat meat with flour mixture. Melt shortening in large skillet. Brown meat thoroughly. Add water; heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 2 hours. Stir in remaining ingredients. Simmer 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.Recipe categories: Main dish, Beef, Stew.
