- bay leaf - 1 item
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- medium onion - 1/2 item
- cans tomato sauce - 2 item
- stew beef - 1 to
- frozen mixed vegetables - 1 pkg
- can beef bouillon - 1 item
- to 6 potatoes, quartered - 5 item
- capful cooking sherry - 1 item
How to make beef stew:
Put salt, pepper, flour and meat into paper bag and shake, being sure to coat meat well. Brown meat in heavy skillet; drain off any grease. Add water, broth, bay leaf, onions, tomato sauce and sherry. Bring to a boil and simmer 1 1/2 hours.Meanwhile, peel and cut potatoes; cook until tender in boiling, salted water. Drain and set aside. When meat has cooked until tender, add the frozen vegetables and potatoes. Cook slowly for 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf and serve. Delicious with sour cream.
