Beef stew
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 2/3 c
- boiling water - 5 c
- Crisco - 3 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- medium potatoes - 2 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- medium carrots - 6 item
- oregano or marjoram - 1/4 tsp
- round steak, cut into fairly large pieces - 1 to
- cooked or canned green peas - 2 c
How to make beef stew:
Cut meat up and dredge in flour. Brown meat on all sides. Add onion, salt, pepper, sugar, tomato sauce and water. Simmer, covered, 1 1/2 hours or until meat is almost tender. Add carrots and potatoes to meat. Cover and cook another 30 minutes. Add oregano and peas. Cook an additional 15 minutes, or until meat and vegetables are done.
