Ingredients/Components

  • round steak, cut into 1-inch cubes - 1 lb
  • medium potatoes - 4 item
  • carrots, cut into 1-inch chunks - 4 item
  • to 2 stalks celery, cut into 1-inch chunks - 1 item
  • medium onions, quartered and separated - 2 item
  • V-8 juice - 1 qt
  • envelope dry onion soup mix - 1 item
  • barley uncooked - 2 Tbsp
  • salt and pepper - 1 item

How to make beef stew:

Brown beef. Place in roaster with all other ingredients. Cover. Bake at 250° for 4 hours. Can also be placed in crock-pot on low for 8 hours. May also add corn, peas and green beans, if desired.
