Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1 tsp
  • cooking oil - 2 Tbsp
  • soy sauce - 2 Tbsp
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • sherry optional - 2 Tbsp
  • medium carrots, sliced - 3 item
  • water chestnuts - 1/2 c
  • bamboo shoots - 1/2 c
  • broccoli, cut into pieces
  • beef round steak, sliced thin - 1 lb

How to make beef and vegetable stir-fry:

Cook broccoli and carrots about 2 minutes in boiling water; drain. Mix cornstarch, salt, sugar, soy sauce and sherry; set aside. Add oil to wok or pan over high heat and stir-fry broccoli, carrots and onions until crisp and tender. Remove from wok. Add beef and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove beef.

Stir-fry remaining ingredients. Cook and stir until thickened. Return broccoli, carrots and onion to wok. Add beef. Cook 1 minute more. Serve on top of rice. Serves 4 to 6.
