Beef and potato moussaka
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- butter - 1/4 c
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- clove garlic, minced - 1 item
- grated Parmesan cheese - 1/4 c
- can tomato sauce - 8 oz
- ground beef - 1 lb
- fresh parsley - 1/4 c
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- eggs, slightly beaten - 2 item
- dried mint - 1 tsp
How to make beef and potato moussaka:
Grease baking dish. Slice potatoes 1/8-inch thick. Cover bottom of casserole with potatoes. In a skillet, heat olive oil. Add onion, garlic and meat until it loses red color. Add tomato sauce, cinnamon, mint, parsley, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour meat mixture over potatoes. Slice rest of potatoes for topping. In saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour and milk. Cook until thickened, stirring often. Stir in beaten eggs and then Parmesan cheese. Pour over casserole. Bake until potatoes are done.
