Ingredients/Components
- chopped parsley - 1/2 c
- coarse black pepper - 1/2 tsp
- clove garlic minced - 1 item
- white navy beans soaked overnight - 2 c
- a hambone with some meat still on it - 1 item
- medium onions chopped fine - 2 item
- M - 1 tsp
- or 3 carrots chopped fine - 2 item
- stalks celery with tops chopped fine - 4 item
How to make bean soup:
Simmer the hambone and soaked beans in 3 qts. water for 2 hours. Add the rest of ingredients and simmer 1 hour longer. Remove hambone: chop pieces of meat and return to soup. Mash beans if needed to thicken soup.Recipe categories: For large groups, Soups & stews, Beans.
