Ingredients/Components

  • sour cream - 1 item
  • water - 2 qt
  • chili powder - 1 tsp
  • clove garlic - 1 item
  • shredded cheese - 1 item
  • large onion - 1 item
  • beans - 1 lb
  • large can tomatoes - 1 item
  • lemon, juiced - 1 item
  • ham hock or chunks of chicken, sausage or ground beef - 1 item
  • carrots and celery to taste - 1 item

How to make bean soup:

Place beans in kettle; cover in water. Add 2 teaspoons salt; soak overnight or boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 1 hour. Drain. Add 2 quarts of water and ham hock. Simmer 2 hours. Add veggies and seasonings. Simmer 1 hour or place in crock-pot. Add juice of 1 lemon. Top with cheese and sour cream.
