Ingredients/Components
- sour cream - 1 item
- water - 2 qt
- chili powder - 1 tsp
- clove garlic - 1 item
- shredded cheese - 1 item
- large onion - 1 item
- beans - 1 lb
- large can tomatoes - 1 item
- lemon, juiced - 1 item
- ham hock or chunks of chicken, sausage or ground beef - 1 item
- carrots and celery to taste - 1 item
How to make bean soup:
Place beans in kettle; cover in water. Add 2 teaspoons salt; soak overnight or boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 1 hour. Drain. Add 2 quarts of water and ham hock. Simmer 2 hours. Add veggies and seasonings. Simmer 1 hour or place in crock-pot. Add juice of 1 lemon. Top with cheese and sour cream.Recipe categories: For large groups, Soups & stews, Beans.
