Ingredients/Components
- bag navy beans - 1 item
- carrots - 1 lb
- medium potatoes - 4 item
- stalks celery - 3 item
- medium onion - 1 item
- ham end - 2 lb
- garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- cloves - 1/4 tsp
How to make bean soup:
Soak beans overnight. Discard water. Dice potatoes (skin on), celery, carrots and onion. Put in 6-quart pot. Add ham. Cover with water. Simmer 5 hours. Remove ham. Discard fat and bone. Cut ham into bite-size. Return to soup. If soup is too thin, cook longer; if too thick, add water. Serve with toasted bagels.Recipe categories: For large groups, Soups & stews, Beans.
