  • small head red cabbage, washed and coarsely sliced - 1 item
  • medium onion, sliced - 1 item
  • tart apples, cored and quartered - 3 item
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • hot water - 1 c
  • sugar
  • vinegar - 1/2 c
  • bacon grease or butter - 3 Tbsp

How to make bavarian red cabbage:

Place all ingredients in crock-pot in order listed. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours (high for 3 hours). Stir well before serving. Excellent served with a rich meat.
