Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 Tbsp
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1 c
- sifted flour - 7 c
- soft butter - 2 Tbsp
- warm water - 1/2 c
- yeast - 2 pkg
- scalded milk - 3/4 c
How to make basic white bread:
Combine yeast in 1/2 cup water; add milk and 1 cup water to yeast. Stir in remaining ingredients. Beat until smooth. Cover; let stand for 15 minutes. Knead dough until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour. Punch down and let rise again for 30 minutes. Divide into 2 parts. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Shape into loaves.
