Basic spaghetti sauce
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- clove garlic - 1 item
- medium onion - 1 item
- fresh tomatoes - 2 qt
- small green pepper - 1 item
- stalk celery - 1 item
- dash of basil - 1 item
- dash of oregano - 1 item
How to make basic spaghetti sauce:
Peel and cut tomatoes into small pieces. Cook about 15 minutes. Put into blender for 10 seconds; return to pot. Saut?© onion, pepper, celery and garlic just until onion is transparent. Add to tomatoes. Add salt, pepper, sugar and spices. Cover and simmer at least 1 hour, longer if you can as the flavor improves the longer it cooks. Taste and add more seasonings if needed.To this basic recipe you can add any of the following: 1 pound hamburger (browned), meatballs or 1 pound sweet sausage (browned and cut into bite size pieces).
