Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • cider vinegar
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • light brown sugar, packed - 1/2 c
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1/4 c
  • chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
  • catsup - 1/2 c
  • chili sauce - 1/4 c
  • dash of cayenne - 1 item
  • clove garlic, crushed - 1 item
  • onion, peeled and quartered - 1 item
  • spareribs, cracked in half - 4 lb

How to make barbecued spareribs:

Barbecue Sauce:1/2 c. cider vinegar1/2 c. light brown sugar, packed1/2 c. catsup1/4 c. chili sauce1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce2 Tbsp. chopped onion1 Tbsp. lemon juice1/2 tsp. dry mustard1 clove garlic, crushed dash of cayenne In a large kettle, place ribs, onion, salt, pepper and 3 quarts of water. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours or until tender. Drain.

Meanwhile, make barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Arrange spareribs on rack in broiler pan. Brush with sauce. Broil 5 inches from heat, basting frequently with sauce, 10 minutes on each side.
