Ingredients/Components

  • brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • butter - 1 Tbsp
  • honey - 1 Tbsp
  • Dijon mustard - 3 Tbsp
  • olive oil - 1 Tbsp
  • salmon filet about 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 pounds - 1 item
  • soy sayce - 2 Tbsp
  • tsp minced fresh garlic or fresh ginger, or both - 1 item

How to make barbecued salmon:

In a small saucepan, heat butter, sugar and honey over medium heat until melted. Add mustard, soy sauce, oil, ginger and/or garlic. Mix well. Cool slightly.

Rinse filet and pat dry. Set fish skin side down on large piece of foil. Fold up edges around filet. Set fish in a rimmed pan and spoon sauce over it evenly. Marinate for 15 to 60 minutes.

Place salmon (still in the foil) on a grill over indirect heat. Close lid and cook 20 - 30 minutes. Serve salmon hot or cold. If making ahead, cover and chill up to 1 day.

If you don't want to grill the salmon, you can bake it in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.
