- salt
- brown sugar - 1/3 c
- water - 3/4 c
- vinegar - 1/3 c
- shortening - 1 Tbsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- catsup - 1 c
- celery seed - 1/4 tsp
- ribs - 5 6
How to make barbecue ribs:
Arrange ribs in shallow roasting pan. Sprinkle with salt. Cover pan with aluminum foil and crimp it securely. Bake in a 350° oven for 70 minutes or until meat is almost tender, 1 1/2 hours for country-style ribs.Sauce: Cook onion in shortening until tender but not brown. Stir in remaining ingredients. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Cover ribs with sauce and bake for 30 minutes at 375°, turning frequently.
