Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- chopped pecans
- pkg - 1 oz
- butter or margarine - 1/4 lb
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- butter or margarine, softened
- bananas, mashed - 1/3 c
- large or 3 small bananas, mashed - 2 item
How to make banana nut cake:
Frosting:1/4 lb. butter or margarine, softened1/3 c. bananas, mashed1 (16 oz.) pkg. confectioners sugar, sifted pinch of salt1 tsp. vanilla Mash bananas; add baking soda and let stand. Cream butter and sugar and add eggs. Sift together 2 or 3 times, baking powder and flour. Add buttermilk alternately with sifted dry ingredients. Mix in salt, banana mixture, vanilla and nuts. Pour into 3 (9-inch) layer pans, greased and flour coated. Bake at 325° for about 30 to 35 minutes or in a 10-inch tube pan for same amount of time.Frosting: Cream butter and add mashed bananas. Blend in sugar and salt. Add vanilla and enough milk, very little, to make it of good spreading consistency. Ice after cake is cooled.
