Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts optional - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- mashed bananas - 1 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- flour, sifted - 2 c
- flour heaping
- sour milk add 1/2 tsp - 1/2 c
- nuts, finely grated - 1/2 c
How to make banana cake:
Icing:3 Tbsp. flour (heaping)1 c. milk1/2 c. margarine1/2 c. Crisco1 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. nuts, finely grated Put the Crisco in a mixing bowl and stir to soften. Add dry ingredients, also 1/4 cup of the 1/2 cup of sour milk and bananas. Mix until flour is damp, then beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs, nuts and remaining 1/4 cup of sour milk. Beat for 1 minute. Bake in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan at 375° for 25 minutes or until done.Icing: Take flour and milk and mix like a paste. Boil until thick and bubbly. Cool. Add margarine, Crisco, powdered sugar and vanilla; cream well. Spread on cooled cake and sprinkle with nuts, grated fine.
