Banana cake
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- egg yolks - 3 item
- buttermilk - 1/4 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- egg whites - 3 item
- flour, sifted
- hot water - 1 Tbsp
- lemon juice - 1 tsp
- superfine sugar
- walnut meats, chopped fine - 1/2 c
- mashed banana 2 ripe - 1 c
How to make banana cake:
Dissolve soda and vanilla in hot water. Cream sugar and shortening. Add slightly beaten egg yolks and banana. Beat well. Add buttermilk and nuts, alternating with flour which has been sifted with salt and baking powder. Fold in well beaten egg whites. Dissolve soda in water and add to mix with lemon juice. Pour into pans. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes, 400° for 4 minutes and finish at 350° for 19 minutes. Total cooking time: 30 to 35 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
