Banana cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour
- soda - 1 tsp
- eggs, beaten - 2 item
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar
- margarine - 2 Tbsp
- nuts, chopped - 1/2 c
- sour milk - 1/2 c
- banana, mashed - 1 c
How to make banana cake:
Frosting:1 1/2 c. powdered sugar2 Tbsp. margarine1/2 banana, mashed Cake: Sift flour 2 or 3 times. Add baking powder, soda, salt and sugar. Add shortening and 1/4 cup milk and banana. Mix until all flour is dampened. Beat 2 minutes on low speed. Add eggs, nuts and remaining 1/4 cup milk. Beat 1 minute. Bake 25 minutes at 375° or 350° for glass pan.Frosting: When cake is cool, mix banana, margarine and powdered sugar. Add more sugar, if needed and spread on cake.
Note: Sour milk can be made by adding 3 to 4 teaspoons vinegar to 1/2 cup milk.
