Banana bread
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- chopped dates
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- margarine - 1/2 c
- whole wheat flour
- juice of 1 lemon
- wheat germ - 1/2 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- very ripe bananas - 3 item
- nuts, toasted - 1 c
- sunflower seeds or coconut - 1 item
How to make banana bread:
Optional:1 c. chopped dates1 c. nuts, toasted sunflower seeds or coconut Preheat oven to 375°. Mash bananas and mix with lemon juice until smooth. Cream margarine and sugar together and add the banana mix, stirring well. In a separate bowl, stir together the dry ingredients. Add to the banana mix and stir in dates and nuts, if desired. The dough will be very stiff. Turn into a greased loaf pan and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. To test for doneness, insert a knife into loaf; if it comes out clean, the bread is done.
