Banana bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 5 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- heavy cream - 1/2 c
- egg - 1 item
- all-purpose flour
- egg whites - 2 item
- firmly packed light brown sugar - 1/2 c
- mashed ripe banana
- chopped walnuts, tossed in flour to coat - 1/3 c
How to make banana bread:
Preheat oven to 350°. In large mixing bowl, beat butter with electric mixer. Set mixer at medium speed until butter is fluffy. Add sugars. Beat well. Add egg, egg whites and vanilla; blend well. Add banana; beat on high for 30 seconds. In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder. Add flour mixture alternately with cream to butter mixture. End with flour mixture. Add walnuts. Grease and flour loaf pan. Pour in batter. Bake about 1 hour and 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Top of bread should split. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove bread from pan and cool completely before slicing. Store wrapped in plastic wrap.Recipe categories: Breads, Fruit, Quick breads.
