Ingredients/Components

  • salt
  • butter - 1/3 c
  • water - 1 beaten
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • dried bread crumbs
  • selected oysters - 1 pt

How to make baked oysters:

Finger each oyster so as to find and remove any bits of shell. Wash oysters but do not let stand in water. Drain. Mix salt and pepper with bread crumbs. Melt butter, but do not brown. Add seasoned crumbs to butter. Dip each oyster into crumb mixture and then into diluted egg and again into crumb mixture.

Grease two glass or enameled pie dishes. Spread one layer of oysters in each dish. Bake in oven at 450° for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve at once with lemon wedges, catsup or chili sauce. Sprigs of parsley are pleasing for garnishing baked oysters.
