Baked macaroni and cheese
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- dry mustard - 1/4 tsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- bread crumbs - 3/4 c
- small onion, minced - 1 item
- Cheddar cheese - 1/2 lb
- macaroni elbow - 1/2 lb
How to make baked macaroni and cheese:
Cook macaroni in boiling salted water. Shred the cheese. Put minced onion and butter in top of a double boiler. When butter has melted, stir in the flour, mustard, salt and pepper. Slowly stir in the milk and 3/4 of cheese until the cheese has melted.Drain the macaroni and place it in a buttered casserole dish. Pour the cheese sauce over it and toss gently with a fork until macaroni is coated. Top with the remaining cheese.
Toss bread crumbs in 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Put as topping on casserole. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
