Ingredients/Components

  • pkg - 1 oz
  • milk - 2 c
  • butter or margarine - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • dry mustard - 1/8 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1/4 tsp
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • small onion, minced - 1 item
  • sharp Cheddar cheese, grated - 1/2 lb

How to make baked macaroni and cheese:

Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside. Melt butter or margarine in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 1 minute. Stir in flour. Remove from heat and stir in dry mustard, salt, Worcestershire sauce and pepper. Slowly stir in milk. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until mixture is smooth and comes to a boil. Add cheese and stir over low heat until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth. Combine sauce and macaroni. Turn into a lightly greased 1 1/2-quart casserole. Bake about 20 minutes or until hot at 400°. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
