Ingredients/Components

  • milk
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • butter - 3 Tbsp
  • bread crumbs - 1/4 c
  • medium head cabbage - 1 item
  • boiling salted water - 1/2 c

How to make baked creamed cabbage:

Shred cabbage very fine and cook 9 minutes in boiling salted water. Drain cabbage well and place in buttered casserole dish. Melt butter in saucepan; stir in flour and salt until smooth. Add milk gradually. Continue stirring until mixture thickens. Pour this sauce over cabbage and sprinkle bread crumbs over top. Bake at 325° for 15 minutes or until crumbs brown.
