Baked caramel corn
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- sticks butter - 2 item
- can peanuts - 1 item
- brown sugar 1 box - 2 c
- popped corn 1 1/4 c - 5 qt
- white corn syrup or molasses - 1/2 c
How to make baked caramel corn:
Spread popped corn and peanuts in a large shallow sheet pan. Keep warm in 250° oven. Combine brown sugar, corn syrup, butter and salt in a heavy pan. Place on medium heat. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda (syrup will form). Pour syrup over popped corn and peanuts in a fine stream. Stir and mix well. Return to oven and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool and serve or store in an airtight container.
