Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- water - 2 qt
- molasses - 1/2 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- mustard - 1 tsp
- ketchup - 1/4 c
- onion, chopped - 1 item
- salt pork - 2 slices
- chili powder optional - 2 3
- navy or pinto beans - 1 lb
How to make baked beans:
Soak beans in water overnight. In same liquid, bring beans to boil and simmer until tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Drain, reserving liquid. Combine remaining ingredients with beans. Put into 2-quart casserole. Bake at 275° to 300° for 4 hours, adding liquid occasionally if necessary.
