- milk
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- minced fresh parsley - 1 item
- flour all-purpose - 2 Tbsp
- cubed peeled potatoes - 8 c
- processed American cheese, cubed - 1 lb
How to make au gratin potatoes:
In a large saucepan, cook potatoes in boiling water until done. Drain and place in a greased 2 1/2-quart baking dish. In a saucepan, melt butter. Add the flour, salt and pepper; stir to form a smooth paste. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil; boil and stir 1 minute. Add cheese; stir just until melted. Pour over potatoes. Cover and bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until bubbly. Sprinkle with parsley. Yield: 12 servings.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Time to make, Oven.
