Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 tsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- fine bread crumbs - 1/4 c
- onion, chopped - 1/2 c
- medium potatoes - 6 item
- sharp shredded Cheddar cheese - 2 c
- milk with 2 tsp - 2 c
How to make au gratin potatoes:
Cook onions in butter until tender, stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat until smooth. Cool and stir in milk with butter and 1 1/2 cups cheese. Heat for 1 minute. Put potatoes in casserole dish, pour cheese sauce over potatoes. Bake 1 hour at 375°. Put balance of cheese over, sprinkle crumbs and heat 15 minutes longer.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Time to make, Oven.
