Au gratin potatoes
Ingredients/Components
- onion - 1 item
- small potatoes - 6 item
- salt to taste - 1 item
- margarine - 4 Tbsp
- flour - 4 Tbsp
- milk - 2 c
- shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- paprika - 1 item
How to make au gratin potatoes:
Peel and slice potatoes and onions. Place in a saucepan. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add salt and cover. Cook until tender and drain. Place potatoes in a baking dish. Melt margarine in a saucepan and blend in flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add milk gradually, stirring until smooth. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Fold in cheese and stir until melted. Pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes and sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 400° until bubbly and brown.Recipe categories: < 4 hours, Time to make, Oven.
