  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • pine nuts - 1/4 c
  • olive oil - 1/2 c
  • asparagus - 1 lb
  • freshly grated Parmesan - 2 oz
  • to 3 medium garlic cloves - 1 item

How to make asparagus pesto:

Steam or microwave asparagus. Drain well and dry. In a food processor, pulse pine nuts and garlic with salt until finely chopped. Add asparagus and oil and pulse until asparagus is coarsely chopped. Transfer pesto to a bowl and stir in cheese. Serve over penne or other tubular cooked pasta.
