  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 4 Tbsp
  • margarine or butter - 4 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • small can evaporated milk - 1 item
  • sharp grated cheese - 1 c
  • small jar chopped pimentos - 1 item
  • large can cut asparagus - 1 item
  • buttered bread or corn flake crumbs - 1 item

How to make asparagus casserole:

Cream together flour and butter in double boiler until melted. Stir in milk slowly. Stir constantly until thick. Add cheese and pimento, salt and pepper; stir until smooth and cheese is melted. Put drained asparagus into casserole, pour hot sauce over. Cover with buttered crumbs. Bake in moderately hot oven until brown and bubbly. This dish can be made and refrigerated before baking.
