  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • grated cheese - 1/2 c
  • bread crumbs - 1/2 c
  • can asparagus spears, drained - 1 item

How to make asparagus au gratin:

Arrange asparagus in buttered dish. Melt butter and blend in flour and salt; add milk gradually stirring constantly; cook until smooth and thick; add cheese and stir until melted. Pour over asparagus. Top with bread crumbs and a dot of butter. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes in 325° oven.
