Applesauce raisin cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- margarine - 1/2 c
- ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
- applesauce - 2 c
- raisins and/or chopped nuts - 1 c
- flour can mix whole wheat with all-purpose - 2 c
How to make applesauce raisin cake:
Combine flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and nuts in a bowl. Plump raisins by placing in hot water for 10 minutes and drain off water. Melt margarine in a saucepan and heat until bubbling. Add applesauce and baking soda. Remove from heat. Combine wet and dry mixtures. Fill a greased pan 3/4 full and bake at 350° for 35 minutes or until firm on top. Frost, if desired, when cool.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Low protein.
