  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • chopped walnuts - 1 c
  • raisins - 1/2 c
  • quick oats - 1 c
  • applesauce - 1 c

How to make applesauce nut bread:

Preheat oven to 350°. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg on sheet of waxed paper; set aside.

In a large bowl, beat shortening, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Beat in applesauce. Add flour mixture until well combined. Stir in oats, nuts and raisins; mix well.

Spread batter in pan; bake for 55 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes. Run spatula around sides to loosen; turn out on wire rack. Let cool completely. (Should wrap and refrigerate overnight before slicing.)
